So long, farewell from Rose Fairbanks

So long, farewell from Rose Fairbanks

This has been a hard decision as I’ve enjoyed my time on the Austen Authors blog and getting to know other JAFF writers and readers. This will be my final Austen Authors post as I take some time to focus on my family and career. I never plan to quit JAFF, but also hope to have the time to try my hand at some non-JAFF. My interests lie mostly in Regency Romance but my degree and love for history has spanned many centuries so I don’t want to say never on any given subject.

Currently, I am working on a story called Loving Elizabeth. Elizabeth Bennet has an older brother who is best friends with Fitzwilliam Darcy. Consequently, they meet many years before the events of Pride and Prejudice. I hope to start posting the story on my blog shortly. I’m also working on my fantasy/paranormal series Pride & Prejudice & Prophecies and a Regency Romance series about a group of schoolmates who vow to marry only for love. As adults, life sends wrenches in their plans.

If you follow me on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) then you’ll see posts about my daily life as well. My seven-year-old son has Autism Spectrum Disorder and his adjustment to a new school has taken much of my time. Additionally, my nearly five-year-old has been diagnosed with ADHD. She has to be medicated to sleep and even then it doesn’t always work. Needless to say, I’m juggling a lot of things and am darn tired! Sadly, stepping back from the Austen Authors blog will allow me the flexibility to be a better mother and writer. I might even have time for a date with my husband again–or as he’s known around here, that guy who does all the housework.

Best of luck to all my Austen Authors and I know that readers will be in great hands with the continued posts. Please follow me on social media, my mailing list, or blog to keep up to date on my writings. I LOVE interacting with readers!

Does that mean we won’t see Treasured in the Loving Elizabeth series? I’m so sad as I love your stories but understand that family must come first.

I’m sad to see you leave Austen Authors, Rose. But I understand your family and writing are more important in your life. If it helps to concentrate and improve your writing, then taking a step back from posting on AuAu is the right choice for you. We will definitely missed you here so do come back when you have the time to spare.

I have enjoyed so many of your books, and while we will miss you on this site, family comes first. All the very best to you.

Rose I am wishing you the best of luck in all your endeavors. I know it is hard to be a mother and work let alone have a child with a disorder that takes up your time. You need to focus on the children and yourself but don’t forget your hubby. We will miss your smiling face and your stories of your children. Take care and I hope you and your family find peace and what you are looking for in life! God Bless You all and you know you will be missed.
Drop by and give us a heads up now and then. I don’t do twitter or instagram but emails work fine for me along with facebook.
You have great stories to tell and we will all wait patiently for them to appear! God’s Blessings!

All the best to you and your family and I think of the Irish Blessing…
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

I’m sorry you are leaving, but you obviously have too much to do that has a higher priority than Austen Authors. When you are taking care of your family, be sure to find an occasional bit of time for yourself.

I am lucky in that Summer Hanford and I share our obligation to Austen Authors.

April 26, 2018 4:26 AM

Oh Rose, you will be sadly missed on Austen authors but I do see why you are struggling for time. Thank goodness you have help in the form of a supportive husband and yes he does deserve a date night with his wife. Take care of your lovely family and good luck in whatever you write.

April 26, 2018 12:45 AM

Gosh girl, you’ve got more than a handful and a half on your plate. Family comes first and as much as I will miss this part of the connection with you, you’ve made not only the toughest choice but the right choice. One of my grandkids is on the autism spectrum as well as one challenged by ADHAD and each of the four others have medical issues that require weekly clinic appointments. It can be pretty overwhelming but you sound like you have a faithful ‘man servant’ to help you. The saying ‘good help is hard to find’ is true. Make sure you get those date nights arranged! A little further down your road, you might consider using your family experiences as a character base. I think it would be incredible for you to include a hidden Darcy sibling / cousin who is challenged by autism or hyperactivity . I really look forward to reading your work and know that you will continue to be an incredible story teller. Always a fan, respectfully, Pat. ?
