So long, friends
This is my last post as an Austen Author. I’m sure you’ll see me somewhere in the blog-o-sphere guest posting in the future, but for this season of my life I’m taking a step back.
It’s been really fun chatting with all of you each month and getting to know some of you further on Facebook (Author Elizabeth Adams) and Twitter (@eadamswrites).
I am still writing, up to my ears at the moment, actually, and I still post short stories in forums online along with the occasional long story. You can find me most frequently at A Happy Assembly at Meryton.com, FanFiction.net, and darcyandlizzy.com. My handle everywhere is EAdams.
What am I doing now???
I am currently working on a modern original fiction manuscript that I started back in spring of 2012 but set aside to finish other projects. It’s funny and light and makes me smile.
I’m also working on a project about Ukraine, a country that I lived in for a while and got married in. It owns a huge piece of my heart. As you know from my wedding post, my husband is Ukrainian and if you watch the news at all, you know that Russia has invaded Ukraine. A close friend of mine is a Ukrainian doctor with Doctors Without Borders and currently works in Donetsk, a city east of where I lived that is now occupied by Russia, and wears a helmet and bullet proof vest to work every day.
My husband’s hometown, the city I got married in, is only 60 miles away from occupied territory in Crimea. The entire situation is heartbreaking and consequently, this project is requiring a lot from me to get through. Any updates you see on social media about hard or emotional writing are probably about that project.
It owns the greater piece of my attention at the moment. As it should.
What about JAFF?
I still love JAFF and read it almost daily. It’s like slipping into a hot bath at the end of a long, hard day. It’s warm and familiar and always leads me home. For that reason, I doubt I’ll ever be able to leave it alone.
I still write short stories about Jane’s beloved characters – I doubt I’ll ever be able to stop – and you can find them on the forums listed above. I also put short stories and outtakes up on my website. www.elizabethadamswrites.wordpress.com
As for published JAFF, I have a collection of short stories in the works that will be out late summer/early fall. More is up to the muse. And of course the progress of my other projects.
Who knows? Maybe a lighthearted JAFF story will be the perfect relief to the heaviness of my other work. Stranger things have happened…
