Best Laid Plans . . . by Bronwen Chisholm

Best Laid Plans . . . by Bronwen Chisholm

We all know the saying “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” (Or as the Scot in me would say, “The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men gang aft a-gley.” – Robert Burns, “To a Mouse”). Well, perhaps in my case it would be “the best intentioned plans . . .”

As normal, life has been moving me along its current while I attempted to hit targets as they whiz past me on the shore; I have intentionally grounded myself and am taking up the calendar to set deadlines once again. What does this mean? Well at the beginning of the year, I talked about the series I planned on writing. Books 1 and 2 are done and edited. The “plan” was to do a cover reveal today, but . . .

As I look back over the past year, I realize that I have already shared a lot of scenes with you, and I want to save something for you to read once the books release. Instead, it is time for some book blurbs, so you have an idea what to expect.

The Defying Propriety Series: We are formed by experiences of our childhood. Family and friends influence our character. Decisions, wise and foolish, direct our path. Through chance encounters and early introductions, our beloved Pride and Prejudice characters come together on a slightly different path.

All the books in this series are sweet, clean romances.

As a Proper Lady Would: In this first book of the Defying Propriety Series, we watch as Elizabeth and Darcy learn what society expects of them, while attempting to achieve what they truly desire in life. The well-known characters, as well as a few new ones, grow from childhood to a marriageable age; some reveal different facets of their personalities, while others are doomed to follow the same paths.

Son of an Earl: Ashton Fitzwilliam, Viscount Grayson and cousin to Fitzwilliam Darcy, has always known what was expected of him. As the eldest son of an earl, he must marry a lady from the first circles of society, preferably one whose father will be a new ally to the current earl. He never anticipated meeting an intriguing American lady with a secret or two she is determined to keep hidden from the disapproving haute ton.

A Soldier’s Life: Colonel Phillip Fitzwilliam is inspired by his cousin Fitzwilliam Darcy’s marital bliss. He is weary of the military life and fearful he has tempted fate longer than is prudent. However, nightmares and disturbing instinctual reactions cause him to question whether he is capable of leaving the life of a soldier behind.

That is all at this point, but I have a feeling a few other characters might lift their heads once the third book is finished. Book covers will be coming soon, and As a Proper Lady Would will be released the end of July. (There will not be a pre-order.) Watch my website and Facebook page for more details, but in the meanwhile, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.
