In this new book, titled Darcy’s Christmas Scheme, Darcy doesn’t come to Netherfield at Michaelmas with the Bingleys and Hursts. Instead, he arrives in mid-December. His reason for waiting was that his sister was ill and he didn’t want to leave her. When he finally does come for his visit, he brings Georgiana and Mrs. Annesley with him. Also, Darcy very much likes Lizzy from the first, but she’s standoffish. I’ve not gotten far, so that’s all I can tell you for the moment.
I currently have no definite completion/publication date in mind. My hope is Thanksgiving, but I can’t make any promises. I’m not posting it anywhere at the moment, but my Patreon supporters will get a copy once it’s finished, and I’ll be posting it at the DarcyandLizzy forum, also when I get it finished.
In other news, with a new month comes a new book being promoted. This month, I have Decisions and Consequences on sale for $2.99.
This book is one I published in January of 2016. It was my National Novel Writing Month project from the year before. I did not “win” that year, despite spending hours every weekend doing nothing but writing. I came within 7,000 words of taking the prize, though.
I’ve said many times that NaNoWriMo broke me that year. It was a long time before I could write very much in one sitting, and I still can’t go over about 4,000 words in a day. (My highest word count during NaNo that year was a little over 8,000.)
The first draft of this book was an absolute mess. LOL Most of mine are not, but this one felt like it was cobbled together and had no continuity. A good editor straightened it right out, though. <3
As for the plot of Decisions and Consequences, Lizzy is proposed to at the Netherfield ball by Mr. Darcy, and she turns him down. Then, she is proposed to the day after by Mr. Collins. Her mother goes to Mr. Bennet, demanding that he make Lizzy marry their cousin. Now, Mr. Bennet has already spoken to Darcy, who has some information that he is willing to use against the master of Longbourn if he does not get his way. Mr. Bennet leaves it to Lizzy who she will marry, Darcy or Collins, but makes it clear she must choose one.
If you’ve not already picked this book up, this month is an ideal time to do it, as the price will go up in November.
Now, it’s off to listen to some Christmas carols to get me in the right frame of mind to write. Great excuse for starting to play them in October, don’t you think? 😀
