First, a look back.
You may recall that for the last year or so, I have been putting one novel per month on sale for an entire month, and often adding the “promo book” to promotions that other authors are organizing. The book for the month of May is Darcy’s Secret Marriage, and its sale price for the entire month is $2.99.
Darcy’s Secret Marriage was published two years, one month, and four days ago … on April 19, 2019. I was shocked when I saw that date. It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was making the cover and uploading it for sale. And yet, it has been. Wow …
Anyway, in this book, Darcy and Elizabeth meet four years earlier than canon, are instantly smitten with each other, but then are separated. When they find each other again, they secretly marry, but the person who tore them apart before is determined to keep them apart. Of course, true love wins in the end … I never write anything other than a Darcy and Elizabeth Happily Ever After … and the villain is defeated. *sigh* <3
Below is an excerpt … one of my favorite parts of the book …
The end of the set of dances arrived, and the music stopped. As the crowd departed the dance floor in favor of refreshments and conversation, Elizabeth’s heart stopped as she recognized a gentleman on the other side of the room. “Fitzwilliam,” she whispered. Her attention riveted to the man across the way, she froze, willing him to come near.
Darcy knew the moment Elizabeth recognized him by the way her whole face lit up, a smile entirely covering its lower half. He began to move toward her, an answering grin spreading over his own mien. He skirted around a couple who stopped in front of him, impeding his progress, but paid them no mind. Finally, he was there, standing in front of her. He bowed.
“Miss Bennet, how are you?” I have missed you, you are beautiful, I love you.
Elizabeth blushed even as her smile grew. She curtseyed gracefully, saying, “I am well, Mr. Darcy. How are you?” Oh, how much more handsome you are! I did not know it was possible. I love you so!
“I am well.” Darcy tried to assume the indifferent mask that was considered proper by high society, but he could not. Not after finding his Elizabeth after all this time. Hearing the musicians strike a chord, he asked for the next dance.
I confess I had to dig through my files and open the Word document and start re-reading this one. After having written so many books, they get kind of jumbled together in my mind. LOL But … I love this story!
Anyway, if you have not yet added this one to your collection, you can get it for only $2.99 until the end of this month. At that time, it will go back up to the pre-pandemic price of $6.99.
Now, for the look ahead.
I’ve begun a new book! <3
The new story does not have a title yet. It’s being posted currently on my Patreon page. I won’t share it anywhere else until my patrons have received their reward copies when I have it ready to publish, but I wanted to sort of whet your appetite for it.
The gist of the story is that Darcy accidentally compromises Elizabeth as he is saving her life. More attempts to kill her are made in the following fortnight, but then the bad guy is caught and Our Dear Couple get their happily ever after. The story has bad Bennets in it, as well, just to make things even more difficult. LOL
The version I am currently writing is much less dark than the one I wanted to write. I simply could not pull off the darker version, at least not right now. Maybe at some point in the future. smile I think my high Positivity and Harmony strengths stop me in my tracks, though. LOL
I have no completion date to give you for the story, but it’s about 20% finished. I have no proofreading jobs lined up, so I’m trying to give as much of my focus as I can to writing. On days like today, there isn’t much of that to go around. LOL
Anyway … have you read Darcy’s Secret Marriage already? If not, snatch it up while it’s cheap! If so, did you like it? Did anything about it surprise you?
